Intentionality in Disciple Making: An Important Announcement

Dear Discipleship-first Friends,

Intentionality is an important word.

It is the single most important word if you want to truly understand disciple making churches and disciple making movements.

The Oxford English Dictionary describes intentionality as “the fact of being deliberate or purposive” (yes, purposive is a word!). The concept behind this word means that disciple makers know where other people need to go and they have a plan to help them get there.

Disciple making requires us to have strategy, direction and a clear sense of next steps for those we are discipling. At a macro-level, church leaders need to have disciple making goals and strategy. And at a micro-level, disciple makers also need to have goals and strategy. As I have written elsewhere, effective micro-disciple making strategies are 1) simple, 2) effective, and 3) reproducible.

It is almost impossible to overstate the importance of the concept behind this word.

That is why I am very pleased to announcement that our 2022 National Disciple Making Forum will focus on the theme, “Intentionality in Disciple Making.”

Save the date: October 5-6th in Nashville (at Christ Church).

Super Early Bird Registration Available Now!

More details will soon follow, but plan to join at least 20 disciple making networks/organizations and listen to main stage presentations by Jim Putman, Shodankeh Johnson, Robby Gallaty and others.
