When You Respond to the Voice of God

Ewoi’s Story

Ewoi is a Disciple Maker living in the Turkana community. He was born into a Christian family. After finishing high school, he started a motorcycle business, so that he could make a living. He hired a motorbike, and every day he had to pay the owner a fee. Every day the job was different. Some days he ended up getting less than he needed to pay the owner.

Ewoi was known for his immoralities and adultery in his area. He did not respect the elders. One day, he met a disciple-maker who shared with him about God’s love. The words shared with him touched his life, and he started responding to the voice of God.

We invited him to a Discovery Bible Study (DBS). It was a bit challenging for him to go through the DBS due to the many questions being asked by the group because he was shy and felt that he was being disturbed. e.g., “Can you retell the story in your own words?” “What have you learned?” “How will you obey, and who will you share with?” At one point he felt like leaving the group, but graciously he kept coming.

After a period of time, he began to change his perspective, and we saw a transformation in him. He started contributing to the group, and became one of the leaders in the DBS. He started obeying what he learned and shared with some of his workmates. He also introduced them to the DBS group. His behavior and lifestyle changed completely; he started to respect all people and left immorality and adultery behind.

The entire community was amazed, and they didn’t believe that he had changed, since they had known him before. Therefore, they wanted to know what really changed him. In the process, the people started using Ewoi as an example to their children to inspire them to follow a new life in Christ. As time passed, Ewoi started having many new friends that became his customers. God opened ways for him to expand into a business of buying and selling second-hand clothes.

Glory to God for this life transformation!
