5 New Books for Disciple Makers
Dear Discipleship-first Friends,
In January of each year Outreach Magazine asks me to select the top discipleship books from the previous year. This year I was asked to select the top book in the category of Evangelism and Discipleship in 2025.
We asked you, our Discipleship.org readership, to help us find the top books from 2025. And, you sent in a lot of recommendations. So, I am pleased to share with you that I selected two books (it was a tie) as rising above the rest in the category of Disciple Making (which includes both Evangelism and Discipleship).
| LOVE GOES F1RST: Reaching Others in an Age of Anxiety and Division By Andrew Forrest |
![]() This is the best book on the big picture of reaching and discipling people in 2025, in my opinion. We are living in a moment marked by deep division, fear, and mistrust, and the Church is not immune to its effects. Love Goes First speaks directly into this reality with rare clarity and pastoral depth. Andrew Forrest offers a compelling vision for how Christians can faithfully follow Jesus in a post-Christian, often hostile culture. Rooted in Scripture and shaped by decades of cultural change, this book calls believers to move toward others in courageous love rather than withdraw in fear. Practical, prophetic, and full of hope, Love Goes First equips the Church to rebuild relationships, reach the next generation, and become a healing presence in a fractured world. S.P.A.C.E.S.: Permission-Based Discipleship Journey By: Rashad Cunningham ![]() This is the best book on personally reaching and discipling people in 2025, in my opinion. We asked our 52,000 newsletter devotees at Discipleship.org to recommend the best books on disciple making and this privately published book rose to the top (of many recommendations). It is the book you want to give to everyday people in the church to paint a clear picture of what personal disciple-making is and how it works in real life. Five Spaces. One Savior. Endless Possibility. S.P.A.C.E.S. is an accessible, hope-filled guide that removes intimidation and replaces it with confidence. With biblical clarity and practical wisdom, Rashad Cunningham shows how Jesus used ordinary relational spaces to reach and form disciples and disciple-makers. These two books are available for purchase on Amazon. Additionally, we are also pleased to announce that Discipleship.org has two partnerships by which we will be co-publishing three outstanding new books on Disciple Making by early April 2026 (or sooner)! Here’s a sneak peek of the three new books: 7 Practices of a Disciple Making Church by Bobby Harrington and Josh Howard, with Mason Eagle (Published by Renew.org Network in partnership with Discipleship.org) ![]() Vick Green of Replicate Ministries describes this book well… “Bobby Harrington and Josh Howard have delivered the disciple making resource pastors have been asking for—grounded not in theory, but in proven practice. Drawing from interviews with over 1,000 pastors, this book reveals what is actually working in disciple-making across the American church.” Made to Win By Chip Pugh – (Published by Oaks Press in partnership with Discipleship.org) ![]() You were made to win—now it’s time to train like it. What if winning at life isn’t about worldly success or going through the motions at church—but something far more powerful? In Made to Win, Chip Pugh issues a bold, practical call for followers of Jesus to live with the heart of a champion. Drawing from Scripture, personal stories, and his background as a coach and disciple-maker, Pugh challenges readers to reject counterfeit wins and embrace a life defined by purpose, grit, and mission. This isn’t a self-help book with Bible verses. It’s a call to action—for the believer who wants to make disciples, maximize their potential, and live every day on purpose for the one who won it all. You weren’t made for mediocrity. You were made to win. Making Disciples: Developing Life Long Followers of Jesus by Ralph Moore (Published by Renew.org Network in partnership with Discipleship.org) ![]() Ralph Moore spent over fifty years as a master maker of disciple makers. Read that sentence again – he didn’t just make disciples he made disciple makers. Ralph is the founder of the Hope Chapel Movement, which planted churches that planted churches so that today at least 2,639 churches have been planted from the disciple making churches he planted. This book tells Disciple Making principles and stories of his movement. These three new books will be available for purchase by early April 2026 (or sooner). And remember, when you attend the 2026 Discipleship.org National Disciple Making Forum, you can select one of the three new books as a free gift! Happy, encouraging reading! For King Jesus, ![]() |
