Like Father Like Son
Sometimes, we overcomplicate the process of making disciples who make disciples. Ordinary people are reaching out to influence people in their natural networks. And people are discovering Jesus because of it. Here is a testimony from a disciple maker who realized the power of his influence on his own son:
N was attending a Discovery Bible Study (DBS) group. At this time, he was regularly arguing with his son, frustrated with his son’s behavior. During the Discovery group they studied John 5:19, where Jesus said, “The Son can do nothing by himself: he can do only what he sees his Father doing, because whatever the Father does, the Son also does.”
N saw the pattern of the son’s behavior following the father’s behavior. He realized, for the first time, that his son was only reflecting his own bad behavior. He was acting like his father. So, N began to change himself. After two months, his son noticed the difference. The son has now joined the group, and N has become the DBS group leader.
