Are You Imitating Jesus With Your Ministry?

As pastors and church leaders, the emphasis on your role typically centers around preparing sermons, hospital visits, leadership meetings and more. In today’s North American church, the idea of “shepherding the flock” has been translated to caring for the many.

While the crowds need care and attention, if that becomes their only focus it can cause pastors to fizzle out. And it’s not exactly how Jesus spent most of His time on earth. Sure, He taught and ministered to large crowds of people. But the majority of His ministry was spent with twelve men who He called to do life with Him. His disciples.

Jesus did life for three years with these men. They traveled together, ate together, and ministered together. They were like family.

During Jesus’ ministry on earth, He wasn’t merely teaching to the masses. He was preparing the disciples to go out and make more disciples.

Can you name two people you’re pouring your life into? Do you have a close circle of people that you’re doing life together? That you’re discipling? Are you preparing them to go out and make disciples?

This week, we want to challenge you to ask God who you can be intentionally pouring your life into. We’re called to live like Jesus and that includes intentionally discipling others.
